How this site makes money
Right now, it doesn't. NameHound is free, has no ads and has no affiliate links yet. This page says what will change and how it will be labeled, before it happens.
The plan
We plan to apply to affiliate programs from companies that people often need right after they find a name:
- Domain registrars (such as Namecheap and Dynadot)
- Business formation services (such as ZenBusiness and Northwest Registered Agent)
- Web hosting and logo makers (such as Hostinger and Looka)
None of these links are live until each program approves us and we switch them on. When they are:
- Every paid link is labeled as paid right next to it, with a link back to this page.
- Paid links carry
rel="sponsored nofollow", the label search engines ask for. - They appear below results, never in place of them, and never as pop-ups.
- No company can pay to change a check result or the Brand Name Score. The score formula is published in full on how it works.
- We won't present a partner as the only option. You can register a domain or form a company anywhere, including directly with your state.
Other links
Links to platforms in the click-to-check list, and to the sources we cite, are not paid. Platform links are marked nofollow, because they're there for you to check a name, not as endorsements. Links to independent authorities such as the USPTO, the SBA, ICANN and IANA are normal links.
What we won't do
No display ads for now, no pop-ups, no sale of your searches, and no sponsored placements dressed up as recommendations.
